Primary peritoneal cancer is the cancer that starts in the lining of the inside of your abdomen of your stomach. The primary peritoneal cancer will start growing and will cover all the organs of your stomach. The primary peritoneal cancer is something that starts when the ovaries in women develops cancer and is not caught in time. The cancer then spread to the lining of the stomach and then you will develop primary peritoneal cancer. Primary peritoneal cancer is most commonly found in older patients and can be seen in some women who have developed the ovarian cancer. Primary peritoneal cancer is extremely rare in men. Some people who are diagnosed with primary peritoneal cancer are said to have developed the cancer from a number of faulty inherited genes passed down from generations.

In most cases for women who have primary peritoneal cancer the symptoms don't show up for quite some time. The primary peritoneal cancer will after a while to make you loose your appetite and will also cause you to feel nauseous as well as becoming bloated. The primary peritoneal cancer will also cause you to bleed as if you are having your period for extended amounts of time. You may also be experiencing lower abdomen pains which is another sign that points to you suffering from primary peritoneal cancer. However, just because you have stomach pains does not mean that you do have this type of cancer. Many other diseases and problems have the same kind of symptoms as other problems.

In order to be diagnosed with the primary peritoneal cancer you will need to have a battery of tests done. This will include the use of a ultrasound and perhaps a cat scan. You will then need to have a battery of blood work done. A doctor will ask you about the family history and if someone in your family has been diagnosed with this type of cancer. If you are concerned about this type of cancer then you might want to speak to your doctor about this diagnosis.
